Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports reports that free agent Orlando Cabrera has agreed to a one-year deal with the Cincinnati Reds for $3 million. There is a second-year option for another $3 million.
It has been expected throughout the day that Cabrera was going to sign with the Reds. He had been choosing between Cincinnati and the Colorado Rockies. If he were to play in Colorado, he would be expected to play second base as opposed to his natural position of shortstop.
Cabrera, 35, played with the Oakland A’s and Minnesota Twins in 2009 where he hit .284 with 9 home runs and 77 RBIs. You can see Cabrera’s contract history and statistics here.
