Khalil Greene Rumors: Could be a fit in Oakland
ByAccording to ESPN The Magazine’s Buster Olney, free agent infielder Khalil Greene wants a major league contract rather an minor league deal with an invitation to Spring Training.
Now that the Oakland A’s have lost out on Adrian Beltre, they may be interested in Greene. Greene played 16 games at third base and 30 games at shortstop with the Cardinals last season.
Greene, 30, hit 6 home runs and had a batting average of .200 with a .272 on-base percentage in 77 games while with the Cardinals in 2009. He made $6.5 million in the last year of a two-year $11 million contract.
