Josh Johnson Rumors: Multi-year contract with Marlins
ByAccording to Joe Frisary of MLB.com, the Florida Marlins plan to have discussions with Josh Johnson and his agent Matt Sosnick this week. Sosnick claims if the Marlins will guarantee a four-year deal, then he will listen.
Johnson is in line to make about $4.2 million in 2010 through arbitration if both sides do not agree to a contract beforehand.
Sosnick has been using Zack Greinke’s four-year, $38 million deal from last year as a basis for Johnson. Sosnick wants at least four-years and $42 million. ESPN believes that these numbers can increase if Seattle’s ace Felix Hernandez gets an extension this winter. It’s expected that Hernandez could get an extension worth $100 million or more.
The 25 year old Johnson had a 15-5 record with a 3.23 ERA in 2009 with the Marlins.
