Jermaine Dye Rumors: Interest from San Diego Padres
ByJon Paul Morosi of Fox Sports reports that the San Diego Padres have shown interest in free agent outfielder Jermaine Dye. If the Padres sign Dye, expect them to move a veteran player to afford Dye.
Morosi says that the most likely candidates to be moved would be closer Heath Bell or third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff. Both players have been the subject of numerous off season rumors.
Dye has drawn interest from the New York Yankees, San Francisco Giants, Texas Rangers, Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals this Winter.
Chris Young would be a good candidate to be traded, but his health may be too much of a risk for the other team. According to Padres’ general manager Jed Hoyer, Young is on schedule to be ready for Spring Training. Young had season ending arthroscopic surgery to repair a tear in his labrum.
