Jason Giambi Rumors: Interested in returning to Rockies

By Allan

Troy E. Renck of the Denver Post reports that Jason Giambi would be interested in returning to the Colorado Rockies if a designated hitter roles does not materialize.  Giambi would be a better fit for a team that either needs a full time first baseman or with an American League team, since it has the flexibility of the designated hitter.

In Colorado, Giambi will be struggling for playing time since he’ll be third on the depth chart behind Todd Helton and Brad Hawpe.

The Rockies are also continuing to talk with the agents for Robb Quinlan and Fernando Tatis.  Both players have the ability to play multiple infield and outfield positions.  However, Quinlan is receiving strong interest from another National League West team.

Giambi hit 2 home runs and drove in 11 RBI’s over 24 at bats with the Rockies lasts season.  You can see Giambi’s contract history and statistics here.
