Jarrod Washburn Rumors: Rejects Twins Offer
ByAccording to La Velle E. Neal III of the Star Tribune, talks between the Minnesota Twins and left-hander Jarrod Washburn have broken down. The Twins most recent offer of one-year for $5 million was rejected.
The Twins are looking for another veteran starter and were hoping that Washburn would be interested given the proximity of his home in Wisconsin.
Last month, Washburn was quoted saying, “The thought of playing close to home has always appealed to me.” He is a native from Wisconsin, so he would be interested in playing with either the Twins or Milwaukee Brewers.
Washburn, 35, has a career 107-109 record with a 4.10 ERA and 1.301 WHIP. He pitched for the Seattle Mariners and Detroit Tigers last season where he made $10.35 million in the last year of a four year contract.
