Fernando Tatis Rumors: In Negotiations with Mets

1/27 19:17: According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, the Mets and free agent Fernando Tatis are in deep negotiations and a deal could be finalized in days.
If the Mets complete this deal with Tatis, that would probably eliminate the re-signing of Carlos Delgado. The Mets are in search of a first base platoon with incumbent Daniel Murphy.
Mets GM Omar Minaya has been in contact with Tatis’ agent Gary Goodman. Tatis is expecting a salary comparable to the $1.7 million he made last year with New York.
Tatis, 35, hit .282 with 8 home runs and 48 RBIs with the New York Mets in 2009. Tatis, a type-B free agent, was not offered salary arbitration this off season. You can see Fernando Tatis’ contract history and statistics here.
