Derrick Turnbow Rumors: Former closer auditioning for clubs

By Allan

Jerry Crasnick of ESPN reports that former Milwaukee Brewers closer Derrick Turnbow will audition this week for teams in an effort to show that he’s healthy.

Turnbow’s agent, Damon Lapa, said that 16 teams will have representatives in Arizona for Turnbow’s workout. According to Lapa, Turnbow has already surpassed 93mph.

Turnbow, 32 by Opening Day, last played in 8 games for Milwaukee in 2008. His best  year was in 2005 when he went 7-1, saved 39 games and had a 1.74 ERA.

Crasnick suggests that Turnbow could be a cheaper alternative to those clubs that may be interested in Octavio Dotel or Kevin Gregg such as the Pittsburgh Pirates.
