Dan Uggla Rumors: Who will take his place if the Marlins trade him?
ByJoe Frisaro answered questions about Dan Uggla and the Florida Marlins in his recent article for MLB.com. He says the Uggla is continuing to be shopped, but it’s not automatic that he’s going to be dealt before Spring Training. The Marlins were discussing with the Giant’s an exchange for starting pitcher Jonathan Sanchez and a prospect, but that deal is all but dead since the Giants have signed Mark DeRosa and Juan Uribe. Previous rumors had Uggla landing in Atlanta, Baltimore or Texas.
If the Marlins trade Uggla the two possible replacements for him include Emilio Bonifacio and Chris Coghlan. Coghlan is a natural infielder and will be the odds-on favorite. The speedy Bonifacio was envisioned to be an everyday player when he was acquired from the Nationals in 2008.
