According to Marc Topkin of the St. Petersburgh Times, the Tampa Bay Rays have signed free agent first baseman Dan Johnson to a one-year Major League deal for $500,000.
Johnson, 30, played 10 games with the Rays and one game with the Oakland Athletics in 2008. That year he was 5 for 26 with 2 home runs, had 4 RBIs and had a batting average of .192. He spent the 2009 season with the Yokohama BayStars of Japan’s Central League, according to Rotoworld.
