The Colorado Rockies and Melvin Mora have agree to a one-year, $1.275 million deal on Sunday, according to Thomas Harding of MLB.com. Word of the signing was first reported by Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports. The deal is pending a physical.
Mora will give the Rockies the right-handed hitting presence that they have needed. Additionally, Mora’s versatility allows manager Jim Tracy the ability to play him almost anywhere.
Mora, 38 by Opening Day, hit 8 home runs, drove in 48 RBIs and hit .260 while with the Baltimore Orioles in 2009. He made $9 million on the last year of a three-year contract. You can see Mora’s contract history and statistics here.
