According to ESPN’s Buster Olney, the Boston Red Sox have traded first baseman Casey Kotchman to the Seattle Mariners for at lease one minor leaguer.  It is not known who the minor leaguer is at this time.  If the traded is completed, Kotchman will be the Mariner’s starting first baseman.

This scenario will allow Kevin Youkilis to play first base full time and newly acquired Adrian Beltre will play third.  The Red Sox need to figure out what to do with third baseman Mike Lowell.

Kotchman split time with the Red Sox and Braves in 2009 where he hit .268 with seven home runs and 48 RBI’s while making $2.85 million.  You can see Kotchman’s contract history and statistics here.

MLBSecrets would like to thank @1truseatlefan for the heads up.
