According to Todd Zolecki of MLB.com, the Philadelphia Phillies and catcher Carlos Ruiz have agreed to a three-year, $8.85 million extension with an option for a fourth year at $5 million.
Ruiz is the third Phillie to sign a long-term deal this month. They signed pitcher Joe Blanton to a three-year, $24 million extension and Shane Victorino to a three-year, $22 million extension last week. Ruiz was the last arbitration-eligible player with the Phillies to not sign a contract until today.
Ruiz, 31, hit .255 with 9 home runs and 43 RBIs while making $475,000 last season. You can see Ruiz’s contract history and statistics here.
