Carlos Delgado Rumors: Winter league debut on Sunday
ByESPN’s La Esquina Blog reports that former New York Met’s first baseman Carlos Delgado will make his winter league debut on Sunday. He’s hoping that by playing in the winter league he can prove that his surgically repaired hip is healthy enough to play in the Major Leagues again.
Previous rumors indicated landing spots for Delgado include San Francisco, Arizona, Seattle, Oakland or the New York Yankees. He also is eyeing a return to the New York Mets. Delgado may be used as a DH for the American League teams.
Delgado will serve as a DH in games on artificial turf and will play first base only on grass fields. He played in 26 games for the Mets in 2009 before going down to a hip injury that required surgery. You can see Delgado’s statistics here.
