2010 MLB Free Agent Rumors: According to Ken Rosenthal
ByKen Rosenthal wrote a piece on the biggest free agent names left on the market and he predicted where they will land. You can read the article in its entirety here, but I’ll give a quick synopsis:
Matt Holliday: Probably will sign a $120 million seven-year contract with the Cardinals.
Johnny Damon: The Giants and Braves would be a good fit, but San Francisco may want a better defender in left field so Rosenthal thinks he’ll land with Atlanta.
Adrian Beltre: Agreement with Boston.
Joel Pineiro: At least six clubs could spend on a starter – Mets, Dodgers, Angels, Brewers, Nationals and Orioles, but Rosenthal thinks Pineiro will end up with the New York Mets.
Aroldis Chapman: Thinks a low-revenue club like the Florida Marlins will sign Chapman.
Orlando Hudson: Teams interested include the Mets, Mariners and Nationals. If the Mets can trade Castillo, then Hudson will be in New York.
Ben Sheets: Many question Sheets’ health. If the Cubs want to gamble with his elbow, he’ll land there.
Vladimir Guerrero: The Tigers and Rangers are in need of a DH, but the market is flooded. Rosenthal picks the Rangers.
Miguel Tejada: The soon-to-be 36 year old could go to Minnesota if he can brave the cold weather. However, if Tejada’s price drops he may to go the Cardinals.
Jose Valverde: The Tigers are in need of a closer. If Valverde’s price drops he may be headed to Detroit.
