• Scott Rolen of the Cincinnati Reds and grew up in Indiana was scheduled to make $11 million in 2010.
• New contract will earn Rolen’s $6 million in 2010 plus $5 million signing bonus that will be deferred without interest.
• Reds will extend Rolen’s contract through 2012 and earn $6.5 million in each of those two seasons.
• Reds wanted to do this to free up dollars.
