Randy Johnson is unsure of pitching in 2010

By Allan

According to ESPN.com, 303 game winner and free agent pitcher Randy Johnson is undecided as to whether or not he will pitch in 2010.  His agent, Alan Nero explains that Johnson’s decision is based on whether his current durability will allow him to be starting pitcher.  Johnson was 8-6 in 22 games last season, with most of those games before the All Star Break.  If he decides to play in his 23rd Major League Season, Johnson will be 46-years-old on Opening Day 2010.

I’ve seen Randy Johnson pitch throughout my entire life.  He’s a stud.  A first ballot Hall of Famer.  He’s not as dominating as he once was, but he can pitch at the Major League level even if it is 1 or 2 innings of relief.  Batters will continue to fear him.  If Johnson can continue and doesn’t mind being away from his family in Arizona for another year, I say go for it.  His contract that he signed with the Diamondbacks in 1999 allows him to have a personal service job with the club as soon as he decides to hang it up.
