Yahoo Sports has reported that the New York Mets are interested in starting pitching specifically free agent John Lackey or a possible trade for Kevin Millwood of the Texas Rangers.  Other possibilities include a trade for Gil Meche (see Meche’s contract details here) of the Kansas City Royals or free agent pitchers Joel Pineiro, Doug Davis, Jon Garland or Jason Marquis.  The Mets may not have enough trade bait to exchange with other teams, so it is likely that they will get somebody from free agency.
