It's such a liability for these players to take it. I may be the greatest second baseman, but if they need me to play third base, it's a completely different position. I could have a nice cushy contract one year and get moved to a new position that I'm terrible at. When it comes time for renewal, no team will want to sign me because I may be labeled as a bad defensive player. It was thought they would move him to third if they got him.
