Update 12/21 09:13: MLB.com reports that the Rangers have reached a tentative agreement with left-handed reliever Darren Oliver on a one-year deal for 2010 plus a vesting option for 2011.
- The Rangers have not confirmed that signing
- The deal is pending a physical which is scheduled for Tuesday.
- Oliver will receive $3.5 million in 2010.
12/20 18:30: ESPN.com reports that relief pitcher Darren Oliver is in contract discussions with the Texas Rangers:
- Agreement could be in place early this week.
- Third tour of Texas for Darren Oliver (the first being in 1993 and the last being in 2000-2001).
- Career records of 106-83 in 16 seasons with Texas, St. Louis, Boston, Colorado, Flordia, Houston, Mets and Angels.
- Angels, Mariners and Yankees were rumored to be interested in Oliver this off season.
- Since the Angels did not offer Oliver arbitration, the Rangers will not owe the Angels draft pick c0mpensation in exchange for signing him.
