Dan Uggla Rumors: Trade to Braves? On-again, off-again with Giants?

By Allan

Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports on the Atlants Braves’ interest in trading for the Florida Marlin’s Dan Uggla.

  • The Braves need a bat and may trade for Marlin’s second baseman Uggla and move him to left field.  Martin Prado is currently playing second base for the Braves.
  • Uggla’s agent, Jeff Borris, told Yahoo!, that “there should be no reason to consider a position change at this time.  It’s a tough subject.  I don’t know.  We’ll have to wait and see.”
  • The talks between the Braves and Marlins describe Atlanta’s interest as “mild”.
  • Uggla, 29, will make between $7-8 million in arbitration.
  • The Marlin’s talks with the Giants about Uggla are “on-again, off-again” and the Baltimore Orioles are out now that they signed free agent Garrett Atkins.
  • A trade for the Yankee’s Nick Swisher or signing of free-agent left fielder Johnny Damon may be prefereable to the Braves.  If the Yankees trade Swisher then they may continue to pursue Damon for outfield and designated hitter duties.
  • Damon lives in Orlando, the site of the Braves’ Spring Training home.
  • You can see Uggla’s complete contract details and statistics here.
