Update 12/21 10:55 PST: The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Oakland Athletics will sign Coco Crisp to a one-year deal for about $4.5 million that includes a team option.
- The deal should be completed on Monday or Tuesday pending a physical.
- Rajai Davis’, the A’s incumbent center fielder might have to shift to a corner-outfield spot. “That’s OK, as long as I’m out there,” Davis said.
- Ryan Sweeney will retain the other corner outfield spot, but Scott Hairston may be potential trade bait or have to sit the bench as the fourth outfielder or DH.
- A’s GM Billy Bean has tried to pursue Crisp twice before.
