MLB.com reports that the Cleveland Indians announced that they have selected right-handed pitcher Mitch Talbot to complete the December 1 trade that sent Kelly Choppach to the Rays.

- Tablot, 26, is out of Minor League options. He has to be added to the Indian’s 40-man roster and must make the Opening Day roster out of Spring Training or be exposed to the waiver wire.
- Shoppach was given a $1.95 million contract last year in his first year of arbitration eligibility. He was due to receive a raise in this year’s salary arbitration.
- The other player the Indians considered to be the player to be named later was RHP Joseph Cruz.
- Talbot was named Triple-A Charlotte Pitcher of the Year in 2007 and 2008. He owns a 62-54 record and 3.79 ERA in 165 start in his Minor League career.
