Chicago Cubs Rumors: Need CF, starting pitching and bullpen help

By Allan

ESPN.com talked about the Cub’s needs for the upcoming season.

As previously mentioned, they are in need of a center fielder.  They have been linked to Marlon Byrd (true centerfielder),  Scott Podsednik (left handed batter, hits leadoff, less expensive) and Rick Ankiel.

The Cubs could use a starting pitcher.  Their current rotation thus far is Carlos Zambrano, Ted Lilly and Ryan Dempster.  Candidates for the final two spots include Randy Wells, Sean Marshall, Sean Hill, Carlos Silva and Tom Gorzelanny.

Jeff Samardzija could be help to the bullpen if he isn’t apart of the rotation.

ESPN suggests that the Cubs go after Joel Pineiro as a starter and Kelvim Escobar for the bullpen.

What are your thoughts in improving the Cubs?  Can they win the NL Central with what they have now?
