Reviewing the Morrow-League trade
Posted by: | CommentsESPN.com analyzes the Brandon Morrow and Brandon League trade between the Seattle Marines and Toronto Blue Jays.
| Team | Acquires |
| Blue Jays | RHP Brandon Morrow Johermyn Chavez |
| Mariners | RHP Brandon League |
ESPN believes that this trade was the last part of the Roy Halladay – Cliff Lee blockbuster trade from last week. It would explain why the Phillies sold Lee for three uninspiring prospects and why Seattle’s GM Jack Zduriencik would get less for a valued pitcher such as Morrow.
In the end, if Toronto required a high-upside arm to be part of the package they received for Halladay, and the Phillies got the Mariners to give that up, the trade is much more balanced from all three parties.

New York Yankees Rumors: The fifth starter?
Posted by: | CommentsKen Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports that a rival executive of the Yankees said that neither Phil Hughes or Joba Chamberlain should be in the Yankee’s rotation next season.
Instead, they should keep both Hughes and Chamberlain in the bullpen and make Chad Gaudin their fifth starter. He goes on to say that if the Yankees do such a thing, they are far more likely to use Alfredo Aceves as the fifth starter.
Hughes and Chamberlain would be used primarily as setup for Marinao Rivera. Damaso Marte would be the left handed specialist.
Another possibility would be to trade Gaudin and/or Mitre, but the Yankees may want to keep the pitching depth to reduce the workload on their four starters of C.C. Sabtahia, A.J. Burnett, Andy Pettitte and Javier Vazquez.
