Accodring to CNNMoney.com, prices for Game 5 World Series tickets have fallen about 39%.  The New York Yankees are 1 win away from their first championship since 2000.

CNNMoney.com reports that Yankees fan Nathan Thompson, a physician from Manhattan, said he bought two tickets for Monday’s game at a price of $220 each early Monday. He said asking prices for the same seats in the rooftop bleacher section had been as high as $800 last week and that prices changed throughout Sunday’s game, depending on the score.

I’ve used secondary ticket markets several times including StubHub.com, RazorGator.com, Craigslist.org and scalpers.   My suggestion is to either get the tickets when they are originally released by Ticketmaster or Tickets.com or wait.  As game time approaches, you can see a decline in pricing unless the event is very hot.  Reason for this is that people and scalpers. are desperate to get of rid of their tickets and must compete with others in the same situation.  If the Phillies can extend the Series to a Game 7, you can expect the seats to reach their maximum potential.  However Chase Utley, Ryan Howard and Cliff Lee need to pull out a Game 5 and Game 6 win.

Starting pitcher Noah Lowry’s $6.25M option is not going to be picked up by the San Francisco Giants.  According to Rotoworld.com, Lowry will be removed from the Giant’s 40 man roster.  Lowry has not pitched since the 2007 season because of elbow/forearm issues that Lowry believed was misdiagnosed by the Giants.  The Giant’s 2010 rotation looks like:  Tim Lincecum, Matt Cain, Barry Zito and Jonathan Sanchez. The Giants will be looking for a 5th starter with a possibility of Madison Bumgarner filling that spot.

Freddy Sanchez, 31, inked a 2 year $12 million deal that would pay him $6 million person season in 2010 and 2011.  Sanchez was acquired midseason for a playoff push.  Unfortunately, Sanchez played only in 25 games and not making much of a difference in the stretch run.

Sanchez had knee surgery in September and said the joint “feels great. It feels almost like it never happened.” He also said he just began rehabilitating his sprained shoulder.

Sanchez was acquired on from the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 29, 2009 for prized prospect Tim Alderson.

About PRO Rumors

Posted by: Allan | Comments Comments Off

My name is Allan. I created this site to understand the motivating factors in Major League Baseball. In doing so, it led me down the path of reviewing statistics and player movements such as trades, free agency, arbitration and hold outs. I started www.prorumors.com and blog.prorumors.com to expose the hidden side of baseball. I also wanted to give the presence of baseball on the Internet a refresh. PRO Rumors is new, and since December 1, 2009 we have had an overwhelming response from baseball fans around the world.

I’m a huge baseball fan like you, and I want PRO Rumors to be yours. I encourage you to comment within the blog or discuss on Twitter @prorumors. Share PRO Rumors with your friends and family. If you are in the San Francisco Bay Area, let’s go out for a beer to chat about baseball. I’m open to new ideas, feedback or any type of discussion, so please email me at allan <at> prorumors.com. I promise to write you back.
